Baume's Hydrometer
The density of a liquid can be measured in degree Baumé.
Note that there are two scales:
- one for liquids with densities heavier than water
- one for liquids with densities lighter than water
Note that the relationship between specific gravity and degrees Baumé is a function of the temperature. Different versions of the scale may use different reference temperatures. The table and chart below is based on temperature 60oF (16oC).
