Valves - Specific Services
In case of a specific service - the choose of a valve may be simplified by following an established practice.
Services | Main | Secondary |
---|---|---|
Gases | Butterfly valves Check valves Diaphragm valves Lubricated plug valves Screw down stop valves | Pressure control valves Pressure relief valves Pressure reducing valves Safety valves Relief valves |
Liquids - clear up to sludges and sewage | Butterfly valves Screw down stop valves Gate valves Lubricated plug valves Diaphragm valves Pinch valves | |
Slurries and liquids with solids | Butterfly valves Pinch valves Gate valves Screw down stop valves Lubricated plug valves | |
Steam | Butterfly valves Gate valves Screw down stop valves Turbine valves | Check valves Pressure control valves Pre superheated valves Safety and relief valves |
- Slurry - a thin mixture of a liquid like water and finely divided substances, such as cement or clay particles
- Sludge - a semi-solid slurry. Wastewater solids are also referred to as sludge.
